Graduate StudentsThis Department is always seeking exceptional Masters and PhD students to join our research teams and we always welcome serious applications. The research activities of department are diverse, and are focussed principally around four key themes, being:
Research activities include work in the fields of non-Newtonian Fluid Mechanics, Mineral Processing, Separation Processes, Biochemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Environmental Engineering and Chemical Engineering Education. The Melbourne Engineering Research Institute (MERIT) focuses the School's research efforts on engineering for the benefit of society. The Department is also home to several major research centres and units:
A number of these centres also involve cross-disciplinary activities so that students may work as part of a team that spans several disciplines. Each of these Research Centres has very strong industry interactions. As a result of the strong industrial connections, postgraduates leaving the Department find challenging positions in Australian and overseas industry, as well as postdoctoral opportunities both within and outside Australia. PhD projects currently in progress can be viewed here. PhD projects currently available for potential students can be viewed here. We are interested in recruiting the very best students from within Australia and from overseas to join us in our active research programs. See information from presentation on 20th October, 2009.
